Finding a therapist that you can connect with is very important to your success in therapy. I try to create a space where you feel comfortable and relaxed, where we can walk through issues together. Sometimes knowing you are not alone and have someone to help you stand when times get rough can make all the difference.

I can't do this anymore.

Who is Nicole? |
I am a Kansas City native, grew up in the Westport area. I never wanted to get married or have kids. And most definitely was not going to drive a minivan or be a soccer mom. In fact, I have been married for twenty years and have three children, and I drive them to soccer games in our minivan. About my career choice: I always believed you should be held responsible for your actions, so I became a paralegal. Then I wanted to help and volunteered as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). After having my daughter I wanted to help change the behavior before it got to a place where a paralegal or a CASA was needed. That is why I became a counselor. Far cry from being a singer or attorney. ☺ |
In everyone’s life there are trials and tribulations. How we deal with those times makes us who we are. There are times when we are destined to repeat the past until we have learned the lesson it was trying to teach us. At Trinity Counseling I offer a safe and secure place to explore the past so we can learn and understand the lessons the present is trying to teach us. Once we can do that, we can change our future.
I believe that life is full of choices. We choose to go left, right or to not go anywhere, but each is a choice. Some days we make good choices, and some days not so good choices. Understanding the choices we make and why we make them can open new doors and insight into who we are. I want to help you be an expert in YOU, as there is no one in this whole world like you and no one else can know you like you can. Vertical Divider

I provide a safe place
|
I feel so different
|
My life experiences and advocacy work has given me a glimpse into a world of anxiety, stress, family conflict, and bravery. It gave me compassion, understanding and the enlightenment to be nonjudgmental. Man, woman, transgender, white, black, green, blended, straight, gay, merry, sad, furry. We are each different in our own way. It is those differences that make us all unique, interesting and special. I offer a safe place to explore the "where you are" in this moment, so we can understand the lessons the present is trying to teach us. I will meet you where you are in life, and we can make the journey together |
I just don't understand
|
I can provide you with the skills to communicate in an open and non-judgemental way. Once we feel attacked by another we no longer listen and just defend ourselves. At that point we are no longer communicating and are just fighting. With these skills you can begin to understand someone else's point of view.
"Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply." --Stephen R. Covey |
Relationships can be difficult and challenging at the best of times but sometimes you may feel as if all is lost. I can provide you tools if you are struggling with trust issues, infidelity, intimacy, communication, or just wanting skills to improve your relationship. |
He just doesn't understand.

Let's find some common ground.

In addition to my counseling work, I am also a mediator, certified in both civil and domestic disputes. A mediator is a neutral party who maintains fairness during a dispute. Both parties are given a chance to be heard equally so that they can come to a mutually beneficial agreement.
Mediation can come in many forms from divorce to family disputes. I can help families come together to work out differences, help parents learn to co-parent and help students and schools solve problems. |
