So, how many of you out there are familiar with Tele-Therapy or On-line Therapy? If you have ever done FaceTime or Skype, you can do on-line therapy. I always thought that doing therapy online would take something away from the emotional connection that is shared. I have discovered that the connection is still there and people share more than they may have in my office. People like on-line therapy for many reasons; no traffic, more convenient times, weather, sickness, etc.
I am a certified provider of tele-mental health treatment and use HIPPA compliant technologies compatible with computers and cell phones so that I am able to meet a client where it’s convenient for them to receive care, and I’m currently accepting new referrals.
I am licensed to see anyone in the state of Missouri. See below for more detailed requirements.

Experience
When a session has been booked, you will be sent an email to confirm the appointment that includes the session link and code for the session. I can also verbally tell you or email the session code if you miss the email.
You can expect it to feel like a normal conversation. You will need to be in a private place, like an empty room of your house with the door closed. Likewise we have a private place on our end too.
You will each say what's on your mind. It's difficult to interrupt each other just by talking, but you can hold up your hand at any time.
Sometimes the sound or sight gets garbled, but it usually fixes itself within a couple moments and you can repeat what was missed.
Your session time doesn't start until technical issues are fixed. There are often those first five minutes of making sure you can hear each other. However, the call may be scrapped if a stable connection cannot be reached. If the call is dropped in the middle of session we may need to prorate the session cost.

Requirements
- Video calls only. A regular phone call may be used in emergency situations.
- You must live in the state of Missouri, USA.
- We use Doxy.me and Google Meet video technology, which has support for a variety of recent phones and computers. If your computer or phone is newer than four years old, it should work. We will let you know which is needed when the appointment is made.
- This requires a fairly decent connection to the Internet. Typical at-home WiFi works. WiFi at your local library or hotspot is not recommended. Cell-only data is not recommended. We recommend upload and download speeds of 4Mbps+. To test your connection go to speedtest.net.
- Doxy and Google are both compliant with HIPAA to keep your sessions secure. They use industry standard encryption and handles protected health information based on the protocols and requirements of compliance.
- You need a well-lit, quiet, private room where the door can be closed. It is your responsibility to maintain the space that you call from. For example, if you are concerned about having a child walk in during session, consider a time where the child is at a nap. Some clients have success using their car in a well-lit garage.
