As a therapist, life can get stressful. I tell my clients we all need an outlet to reduce the stress in our lives. Mine has been crocheting but there are only so many hats, mittens, head warmers and such that you can make. Last night while playing Clue’s Museum Caper with my husband and three kids I began to write on a napkin that was sitting on the table. My daughter was the Caper (thief) and we can never catch her. She has this game down to a science and we are just her pawns, so it can get frustrating.
In this game, a thief is going around a museum and stealing paintings. The characters from the original Clue game are trying to catch the thief before they can escape the museum with three paintings. Until you “see” the thief, they are invisible. If the thief escapes with three paintings, they win. I began to write: Mom Log 23-1-20.17:18 Still fighting against the Gray Villain (my daughter, the Caper) . No intel on her whereabouts, as of yet. Troops (the rest of us) are starting to get testy, moral is getting low. Some intel needs to come come soon before we start turning on each other. I fear Lumberjack (my husband) may begin a revolt soon. The Gray Villain must have some sort of supernatural powers. They have found away around our security and has disabled out cameras and motion detector’s. I don’t know how much longer we can hold on. —-- Had the troops read it, and it just kept getting funnier. A few turns later, more inspiration struck: Mom Log 23-1-20.17:30 Gray Villain infiltrated our Blue room and stole a priceless artifact. Troops are running around with no clear direction. Upon further inspection we have discovered my artifacts have disappeared. Is this the work of the Gray Villain? What supernatural powers does this villain possess, and will they ever be brought to justice? Mom Log 23-1-20.19:37 Just got word from MOTHER. The supernatural threat known as the Gray Villain has gotten out of control and we will be evacuating LB-426 at 21:00. The Gray Villain has won this round but we will be back and victory will be ours! It may not be in my lifetime but the human race will prevail. We will not go quietly into the night! We will survive! I will write again when we are all together for another game night. When that will be, I do not know. MOTHER has hinted that our next assignment will be a house on the hill. I have heard rumors that nothing is what it seems in the house. It keeps changing and never is the same way twice. Until next time. Mom —-- My family and I play a lot of games. That is one of the way we connect and spend time with each other. It is a time to laugh, learn how to work out differences, develop problem solving skills and just have fun. The kids thought “Mom Log” was funny and I really enjoyed writing it. So, for a bit this is going to be my stress reliever and I will be sharing it with you (It’s my page, I can do what I want).
